An Introduction to Neonatal Follow-up Clinics

Dr. Paige Church and Dr. Vincent Ho are experts in the field of Neonatal follow-up. In this webinar, they will explain the vital role Neonatal Follow-up Clinics play in helping NICU graduates achieve their full potential. They’ll cover what parents can expect at clinic visits and how parents and clinical teams can work together. They’ll also discuss how the world of follow-up itself is changing. The focus of follow-up is expanding beyond data collection and surveillance to a more holistic model that considers family well-being and has a strengths-based approach.


PRESENTERS


Dr. Paige Terrien Church is an Assistant Professor of Paediatrics at the University of Toronto. She is the director of the Neonatal Follow Up Clinic at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre and the Developmental Behavioral Physician Lead in the Spina Bifida clinic at Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital. Dr. Church is board certified through the American Board of Pediatrics in Neonatology, and Developmental Behavioral Pediatrics and is interested in long-term functional outcomes of infants with neurologic conditions.


Dr. Vincent Ho is a Neonatologist and consultant Paediatrician at the Royal Victoria Regional Health Center (RVH) in Barrie, Ontario. He holds the title of Lecturer at the University of Toronto on the Faculty of Medicine, Department of Paediatrics. He is the Medical Director of the NICU and Neonatal Follow-up Program at RVH. He completed his medical school training at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario, his Paediatric residency at the University of British Columbia, and his Perinatal/ Neonatal Medicine Fellowship at the University of Alberta. Before moving his family to Barrie, he was the Medical Director of Neonatology at Toronto East General Hospital where he was involved in the establishment of the Neonatal Follow-up Program at Toronto East General Hospital.Currently, he is a co-chair of the Provincial Council for Maternal and Child Health’s (PCMCH) Neonatal Follow-up Program Working Group.
